Types Of Affiliates

Affiliate Marketing is a Performance based marketing model where Affiliates get paid commission by the Merchant for every successful action/sale. So, Affiliates promote other person’s or organisation’s products to make a sale for them and in return receive some compensation and hence monetise the traffic on their websites, blogs etc. Affiliates Publish other’s content so they are also termed as Publishers.

There are many types of Affiliates, some of which are mentioned below:-

  • Content Affiliates: These types of affiliates have websites or blogs having content specific to an area of interest. They promote campaigns which are relevant to the content they are publishing and hence monetise their traffic by providing links and banners to the merchant’s products.Types Of Affiliates
  • E-mail Affiliates: E-mail Affiliates have a large database of user e-mail ids. They promote the advertiser’s campaigns by sending mails and newsletters.
  • PPC Affiliates: PPC Affiliates promote their websites, blogs by creating paid ad campaigns on platforms like Google Adwords, Facebook etc. this may get risky as they paid for ad campaigns for users on the basis of click or action. But they will only receive commission from the merchant for successful sale.
  • Social Network Affiliates: In present Scenario about 40% of the world’s population is using social media. Social Media Affiliates take advantage of these numbers and promote the campaigns by creating brands, ads and pages on Social Media Platform.
  • Cashback and Rewards Affiliates: These type of Affiliates give rewards or cashbacks to their users from the commissions they get paid from the merchant or advertiser.
  • Shopping Portal Affiliates: These type of Affiliates maintain a shopping portal having products listed from various e-commerce websites and merchants all at one place. It makes convenient to both Affiliate as well as Users to get what they are looking for.
  • Forum/Review Affiliates: An Individual or an organisations creates a Forum or review website or blog where they allow others to have discussion on products or share their experiences. They promote the merchant’s products on forum by means of a link or banners to get paid commissions.
  • Product/Price Comparison Affiliates: These type of Affiliates have a website or blog where they compare different products on the bases of their specifications and price. They promote the advertiser’s campaigns related to products they are comparing and hence try to monetise their traffic.
  • Vouchers/Coupon Codes Affiliates: These Affiliates promote the advertiser’s products along with the coupons and offers announced by the advertisers. So, to avail benefits of theses offers visitors check the website regularly to shop and avail discount and thus the Affiliate earns commissions.
